A Joyful September of Friendship and Forest Fun

At St. Matthew’s Weekday School, our classrooms came alive this September with laughter, friendship, and discovery. Children explored two meaningful themes: My Friends and Me and Forest Adventures through creative play and hands-on learning.

During My Friends and Me, children practiced taking turns, shared stories, and built early friendships through dramatic play and group activities. These moments helped nurture kindness, connection, and self-expression.

In Forest Adventures, the classroom became a space filled with leaves, animals, and natural textures. Children explored the sights and sounds of the forest through sensory bins, nature-based crafts, and books about the changing seasons.

One favorite activity was creating mini forest scenes. With natural materials, play dough, and animal figures, each child designed their own woodland landscape.

We also introduced early concepts like circles, 1, 2, 3, and A, B, C, giving children a joyful start to literacy and math through songs, games, and visual exploration.
