The Week of the Young Child at WDS

We are incredibly excited to announce that we will be hosting "The Week of the Young Child" from April 5th through April 11th, 2025. This week-long celebration, orchestrated by NAEYC, underlines the significance of early childhood education and the pivotal role our center plays in shaping the futures of our young, vibrant learners.

At WDS, our mission to provide a nurturing environment focusing on school preparedness, social and emotional intelligence, and Christian faith enrichment aligns perfectly with this celebration. This occasion acts as an impactful reminder of how families, educators, and children work together to build bright futures.

Throughout the week, our team will be organizing a variety of themed activities to encourage creativity, teamwork, and family involvement. Each day of this special event is devoted to a unique theme:

Music Monday: The educators at WDS will fill the school with rhythmic sounds and melodies. We'll have classroom sing-alongs, and the children will explore musical instruments, kindling their creativity and cooperation.

Tasty Tuesday: A day dedicated to hands-on cooking activities and discussions on the importance of healthy eating habits. Our little chefs will also learn the value of nutritious foods for a strong body and a sharp mind.

Work Together Wednesday: On this day, the students will be involved in collaborative projects to encourage teamwork and problem-solving. These activities will help our children realize that - together - they can achieve more!

Artsy Thursday: Showcasing children’s imagination and self-expression, the children will engage in creative art activities that celebrate their individualism.

Family Friday: It will be an especially heartwarming day as we invite families to participate in a classroom experience and join us for a community picnic.

This unique event fosters a deep level of engagement between families, children, and educators while emphasizing the crucial role of early education and the holistic development of our young learners. 

We encourage our WDS families to participate in the plethora of activities throughout the week intentionally designed to bring us all closer while fostering a thirst for knowledge in our students. 

Remember, early childhood education lays a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning, and at WDS, we treasure the responsibility we have of being instrumental in this phase of our children's lives.
