November Curriculum Spotlight: Fun on the Farm and Song and Dance
November is a month full of music, movement, and discovery at St. Matthew’s Weekday School. Our classrooms are alive with the sounds of laughter and learning as children explore this month’s themes, Fun on the Farm and Song and Dance.
For our infants and toddlers, the focus will be on exploring the sights and sounds of the farm through stories, songs, and sensory play. They will be discovering the color brown in their environment and learning to recognize the shape of a star. These activities help build early awareness of colors and shapes while encouraging curiosity and joy in learning.
Our preschool children will continue the adventure with hands-on experiences that blend creativity and early academics. They will be exploring the letters G, H, and I, exploring the numbers 7 and 8, and working with the color brown and the shape of a rectangle. Through pretend play, art projects, and plenty of singing and dancing, they will connect movement, language, and imagination in meaningful ways.
Throughout the month, teachers will use music and movement to inspire expression and confidence. Whether it is clapping along to a rhythm, counting steps while dancing, or sharing a story about farm life, each child will have opportunities to grow, explore, and celebrate the joy of learning together.
