October Christian Message: Learning About God’s Healing Through Naaman

This month, children at St. Matthew’s Weekday School are exploring the story of Naaman from 2 Kings 5:1–16. Naaman was a powerful army commander who learned a life-changing lesson about healing, humility, and faith in God.

As part of our Christian message for October, teachers are introducing the story in simple, age-appropriate ways. Children are listening to the story during circle time, watching it come to life through visuals and classroom displays, and talking about what it means to trust and obey God, even when the instructions feel unusual or surprising.

In the coming days, children will take part in a gentle water activity inspired by Naaman’s seven washes in the Jordan River. This hands-on experience helps them connect the Bible story to the idea that God cares for us and can heal in quiet and powerful ways.

We’re also using everyday examples to help children see how they can show kindness, accept help, and trust God in their own lives. These conversations are helping them understand that healing can come through simple acts of obedience and faith.

Later this month, children will have time to reflect and pray together, thanking God for the people who help us feel better and for the gift of good health.
