A Season of Love and Service: Our Hypothermia Week Mission
At St. Matthew's Weekday School, Hypothermia Week is more than a program of service. It is a living expression of our faith and mission to nurture hearts that care deeply for others.
From February 22 to March 1, our church will open each night to welcome up to 40 guests who need warmth, meals, and rest. With the support of FACETS, our team and volunteers will provide dinner, snacks, breakfast, and lunch to go.
This mission is part of the Fairfax County Hypothermia Prevention Program, which brings together more than 50 local churches to ensure that every person has a safe place to sleep.
In February, our classrooms focus on themes of love and compassion. Through Hypothermia Week, those same values shine in our community as families live out the lessons their children learn each day.
How families can help:
Volunteer for an evening shift to greet guests or serve meals
Prepare or donate food items
Offer financial support to cover supplies and meals through the church's portal
Share this opportunity with others
This work reflects the spirit of St. Matthew's, where faith becomes action and love grows through service.
