More Than a Meeting: What Families Can Expect from End-of-Year Conferences

The school year is winding down, and with it comes one of the most meaningful conversations we have with our families: the end-of-year parent teacher conference.

These are not your typical check-ins. Each appointment is a dedicated, one-on-one time set aside for your child's teacher to walk you through everything they have observed over the course of the year. The growth, the breakthroughs, the moments that made them smile, and the areas where your child has worked hard to find their footing.

At St. Matthew's Weekday School, we believe that the parent-teacher relationship is one of the most important partnerships in a child's early education. When families and teachers are on the same page, children thrive. That shared understanding gives children a sense of continuity between home and school, and it helps both sides show up for them in the most intentional ways.

Here is what you can expect from your conference this year:

A genuine growth review. Your child's teacher will share what they have seen and learned about your child across all areas of development: social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. This is not a report card. It is a story of your child's year, told by someone who has been right there with them.

Personalized observations and recommendations. Every child is different, and your conference will reflect that. Your teacher will share specific things they have noticed about your child and offer thoughtful guidance on how to continue supporting their growth.

A custom Summer Success Plan. Every family will leave with a personalized plan created specifically for their child, with activities and ideas designed to keep learning alive over the summer and set them up for a confident start to their next year.

Conferences are available through May 15, and sign-ups are through Sign Up Genius. If you have not yet claimed your spot, we warmly encourage you to do so. This time together matters, and we are genuinely looking forward to it.
