February at St. Matthew's: Hearts, Hugs, and a Rainbow of Learning
At St. Matthew's Weekday School, February brings cheerful energy to our classrooms with the month's curriculum themes: "Hearts and Hugs" and "Eating the Rainbow."
Throughout the month, our children will explore ideas of love, kindness, and healthy living through hands-on activities that connect learning to life.
All Age Groups: This month's lessons are bursting with color, joy, and care. Children will be surrounded by the color pink and explore the heart shape, symbols of love and friendship that tie perfectly to our February focus on kindness.
Preschool Classrooms: Our preschoolers will also explore new letters and numbers - P, Q, and R along with 13 and 14 - through songs, stories, and creative play. They'll practice recognizing and get to know these symbols, connecting them to everyday experiences and themes of the month.
Exploring "Eating the Rainbow" Children will discover the importance of eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. Through art projects, sensory play, and simple cooking experiences, they'll see how every color of the rainbow helps keep their bodies strong and healthy.
Embracing "Hearts and Hugs" From crafting heart-shaped art to sharing kind gestures, this theme encourages children to show empathy and appreciation for one another. It's a natural extension of our school's belief that kindness connects us all, and that love and care can be shared in both big and small ways each day.
