Veterans Day gives us an opportunity to pause and thank the people who have served our country. This year, we're inviting St. Matthew's Weekday School families to help us create a community bulletin board honoring veterans.
From November 2-6, families may share a photo of a veteran in their family or community. We'll add the photos to our display and use this visual reminder to help the children understand that veterans are part of our own families, neighborhoods, and school community.
For young children, a familiar face can make a big idea feel more concrete. Seeing a grandparent, relative, family friend, or community member on the board gives children a meaningful way to begin learning about service and gratitude.
Our completed bulletin board will be displayed beginning November 9. We hope you'll stop to look at the photos with your child and join us in thanking the veterans in our community.
