Joy, Celebration, and Community: It’s Happy Birthday Week at SMWS
This July, SMWS is celebrating in style! From June 30-July 4, we’re hosting Happy Birthday Week, a joyful celebration of our nation’s birthday and all our amazing campers with summer birthdays.
Throughout the week, campers will dive into activities that highlight celebration, creativity, and connection:
Red, white, and blue crafts like patriotic paper lanterns and USA-themed handprint art
Birthday crown decorating stations, where children add gems, stickers, and drawings to their own festive headwear
Lively group dance parties with upbeat music and movement games
A mini "Happy Birthday USA" parade or classroom march, complete with flags and streamers
Special circle time moments where summer birthday children are honored with songs, cheers, and birthday cards from classmates
Our classrooms will reflect the energy of the week—decked out in vibrant colors, birthday banners, and our summer birthday bulletin board showcasing each camper being celebrated.
The highlight of the week is our Birthday Bash Celebration Day, where we bring the entire camp together for music, themed games, and joyful recognition. This event is a chance to lift up each child, reinforcing that birthdays are a special time for connection and appreciation.
Parents of summer birthday children are welcome to send in a nut-free, store-bought treat for their child’s celebration day if they’d like—it’s completely optional, and always appreciated.
We invite families to take this opportunity to talk with their children about what birthdays mean and how we can celebrate our country’s birthday in a way that’s fun and age-appropriate. These shared conversations deepen the learning and help children feel seen and valued.
