Small Hands, Caring Hearts: Our November Food Drive

The children and teachers at St. Matthew's Weekday School have spent the week creating something special. Each classroom has decorated its own collection box for our November Food Drive.

From November 9-20, we're inviting families to send in non-perishable food items. At the end of the drive, all donations will be given to the food bank at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church. The food bank will then share them with families who could use extra support during the holidays.

For young children, giving becomes more meaningful when they can take part in the process. They can help choose an item at home, carry it into school, and place it in the box they decorated with their classmates. These simple experiences help children begin to understand generosity, responsibility, and caring for their community.

Our play-based program supports children's social, emotional, academic, and spiritual growth.

Opportunities like this Food Drive are one way children can practice kindness in a familiar, hands-on way.

How families can participate

  • Send in non-perishable food items between November 9 and November 20.

  • Have your child place the donation in their classroom's decorated box.

  • Talk together about how sharing food can help another family during the holidays.

Every donation makes a difference. We're grateful for the many ways our St. Matthew's families care for one another and for the larger community around us.

Food Drive dates: November 9-20
