Step Right Up! Carnival Week at St. Matthew's Was One for the Summer
Carnival Week at St. Matthew's Weekday School was a week our campers will be talking about for a long time. From the moment they arrived on Monday, the energy was electric. Colorful decorations, game stations, and excited faces made our camp feel like the most wonderful little fair in Annandale.
Our teaching team set up carnival-inspired stations throughout the week, including ring tosses, bean bag throws, a duck pond, and a "test your strength" game that had everyone cheering for each other. Children earned tickets for participating and got to visit a small prize station at the end of the week. The excitement around that prize table was absolutely adorable.
We also got creative with carnival-themed art and snacks. Campers made their own clown faces with paper plates and pom poms, designed their own carnival posters, and decorated popcorn bags to take home. A few of our older campers even helped run one of the game stations, which gave them a wonderful taste of leadership and teamwork.
Watching our kids celebrate each other, cheer for their friends, and navigate winning and losing with such good hearts this week was really special.
Next week we slow down just a little and get back to the natural world for Bugs and Butterflies. Magnifying glasses, cocoon crafts, and butterfly gardens are on the horizon!
